E-Postcard #5: Spring in Namaqualand (South Africa)
Namaqualand is a narrow stretch of semi-arid and arid country along the west coast of South Africa. The region is home to a unique assemblage of plants and its floral biodiversity is without equal among the arid areas of the world. More than 3,000 species of wildflowers occur here, including more than 500 different succulent species. The Mediterranean climate, in years with good winter rainfall, produces spectacular displays of spring annuals. In 2012, the “blomveld” was dominated by a firestorm of Namaqualand daisies (Dimorhotheca sinuata).

Thanks so much for the beautiful images as Wendy would say. What a beautiful gift to give your followers during such difficult times. Take care. Hope to see you later in the year.
These are such lovely pictures. After working at home for 3 solid weeks in basic isolation, it’s great to take a mental break and experience the fantasy of these images and picture myself there!
